Bayou Bend Summer History Camp: Crafting America

“Crafting America” | 2024 Schedule & Registration

Summer History Camp is a five-day program: Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. To register, complete and submit the appropriate application form.

Level 1 | 5th Graders | Information & Application Form

  • July 15 to 19
  • July 22 to 26

Become a history detective! Bayou Bend’s collection of American objects is the entry point for an engaging camp program where 21st-century kids explore life in the 1700s. Campers forge metal, mold candles, write with quill pens, play colonial-era games, and work with experts in art and history. The camp’s thoughtful curriculum challenges campers to form opinions based on asking questions and making discoveries through active participation.

Level 2 | 6th Graders | Information & Application Form

  • June 24 to 28

The story continues! Bayou Bend’s Level 2 summer camp shifts the focus onto objects made in the mid-to-late 1800s and features a more intense object study and crafting focus than the Level 1 camp. The session is ideally suited for previous campers with a desire to continue their experience at Bayou Bend, but enrollment is open to all who meet eligibility criteria.
