    Thanks to River Oaks Garden Club, organic gardening methods were initiated, and Bayou Bend became the only formal public garden in Texas to practice organic gardening. In 1961, she invited River Oaks Garden Club to supervise the gardens permanently. Since then, the organization’s volunteers have devoted their time and talents to preserving and enhancing the gardens.   5. Carlos Cruz-Diez: Color in Space and Time

    The starting point for Cruz-Diez´s chromatic investigations is the unstable nature of color. His work combines color theory, science, kinetics, mechanical engineering, and the painter´s craft, and it defies easy categorization. The exhibition catalogue, published by the MFAH and distributed by Yale University Press, traces the full trajectory of the artist´s career and is available at the MFAH Shop.
