  1. Eye on Third Ward 2012: Jack Yates High School Photography

    Since 1995, photography classes at Yates have focused on Houston’s Third Ward neighborhood, and select images are presented in the annual Eye on Third Ward exhibitions at the MFAH. .; the Wallace Foundation; the Louise Jarrett Moran Bequest; the Neal Myers and Ken Black Children’s Art Fund; the Favrot Fund; and Gifts in honor of Beth Schneider. The Yates High School Photography Program and the "Eye on Third Ward" exhibition receive generous funding from the CFP Foundation; the Junior League of Houston, Inc.; and the Tri Delta Art Show for Charity, Inc.

  2. Treasures from Korea: Arts and Culture of the Joseon Dynasty, 1392–1910

    The objects range from the courtly arts of ceremonial screen painting and calligraphy to scenes that vividly depict life across the social classes. The exhibition is organized by the National Museum of Korea, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. The works on view demonstrate the breadth and scope of the fascinating art created during the Joseon dynasty.

    Aug 25, 2020 - The painter, sculptor, and co-founder of AfriCOBRA (African Commune of Bad Relevant Artists) took his first art classes at the Art Institute of Chicago, where he later earned his Bachelor of Arts degree.     Members receive many exclusive benefits, including discounts on art classes, year-round free general admission to the Museum, invitations to members-only events and exhibition previews, insider information from the Museum’s newsletters Students who do not furnish transcripts by this deadline may be dropped from all classes with no tuition refund. The Glassell School of Art does not offer payment plans. Tuition is due in full at the time of registration. Workshops are priced individually.

  7. Support & Volunteer

    Two classes are offered on Tuesdays: one in the morning and another at night. No class is held during the summer. Docents give two tours a month and have the option of staffing programs. No prior art history knowledge is required. Docents learn about 17th-, 18th-, and 19th-century European art in the context of the Rienzi Collection. Docents make a minimum two-year commitment. Conversations bring the art, architecture, and history of the house museum to life, as docents share insights about the European art treasures. In addition to giving tours, docents support public programming at Rienzi.

    Classes are available on weekdays after school, and also on Saturday and Sunday. Scholarship students may pick the class in their age group that best fits their schedule.
