  8. A Veterans Day Performance “In Flanders Fields”

    Nov 11, 2020 - “In Flanders Fields” combines music with the inspirational words of John McCrae. Written during World War I, his poem “In Flanders Fields” led to the red poppy becoming a worldwide symbol of remembrance for Veterans Day. Rienzi, the MFAH house museum for European decorative arts, partnered with the University of Houston’s Moores School of Music for a performance to honor Veterans Day. This special performance features current and past Moores School of Music students playing music by Maurice Ravel as well as the world premiere of a new work by J.E. Hernández.
