The Red Shoes Friday, October 11, 2024 7 p.m.-9:15 p.m.

Inspired by Hans Christian Andersen, this iconic melodrama focuses on Victoria Page (dancer Moira Shearer in her first film role), a young ballerina cast by obsessive Russian impresario Lermontov (Anton Walbrook) to star in his ballet The Red Shoes. Like her character, she is irresistibly drawn to dancing, but her life becomes torn between love and art. Shot in glorious Technicolor, The Red Shoes—from legendary filmmakers Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger—won Oscars for art direction and music.
