The MFAH, in collaboration with Rice University’s program in Jewish studies, presents the first in a series of annual conversations on the art of Judaica. Hear from designer David Wiseman, a Los Angeles–based contemporary artist, as he engages in a dynamic discussion with curator Elizabeth Essner about the inspirations behind his renowned work and how the Jewish faith has shaped his artistic practice.

About the Speaker
David Wiseman, a graduate of Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), draws inspiration from nature, global decorative arts, and timeless craft techniques. Wiseman creates unique interiors and furniture by blending historical references and Judaica with contemporary design. His works are featured in the permanent collections of LACMA, the RISD Museum, and the Corning Museum of Glass.
