Experience Thomas Demand: The Stutter of History through the written word. This event features performances by local writers Ayokunle Falomo and Natasha Carrizosa, inspired by the exhibition.

About the Speakers
Ayokunle Falomo is a Nigerian American storyteller whose mission is to use his pen as a shovel to unearth what makes us human. He is the author of kin.DREAD and thread, this wordweaver must! Falomo’s work has been featured in publications such as Local Houston Magazine, Glass Mountain, the New York Times, and the Houston Chronicle. His performances have graced stages including TEDxHouston and other venues across and beyond Texas.

Miranda Ramírez is a multidisciplinary artist, writer, and the founder and director of Defunkt Press, a literary columnist for Public Poetry. Ramírez has been featured in Atticus Review, Coffin Bell, Cowboy Jamboree, Puro Chicanx: Writers of the 21st Century, and St. Lucy Books’ compendium Double Feature, due out later this year. Ramírez holds an MFA in Writing, Editing, and Publishing from Sam Houston State University and is thrilled to be the Betsy Writer's Room, July 2024 Artist in Residence.
