In celebration of Jacolby Satterwhite: A Metta Prayer, emerging performance artist Christopher Paul presents an immersive, participatory sound and meditative experience titled “Great Was the Ecstasy II” in response to the exhibition.
Step into a kaleidoscopic universe of multimedia magic as this local artist blends sonic elements, video, and music—creating a vibrant ode to love and resilience.
This exhibition celebrates humanity in all its glory through computer-generated scenes of life and love. There are occasional instances of adult language and imagery.

About the Performers
Christopher Paul, a native of San Antonio, is a performance artist based in Houston with a background that includes studies at Central Saint Martins London and the University of Houston. Their work explores the relationship between spiritual ecstaticism and the loosening of bodily inhibition that draw from speculative modes of being within Paul’s Gullah Geechee, Korean, and Queer identity. Paul’s installations and performances blur boundaries between movement and physical detachment, resulting in sculptures and collages that capture sensorial ineffable states of ecstatic clarity. Their work has been exhibited at institutions such as Blaffer Art Museum, Contemporary Art Center New Orleans, and the Houston Museum of African American Culture. Paul has also been featured in publications including 1Granary London, Gulf Coast Magazine, Houston CityBook, and OutSmart Magazine.
"Jacolby Satterwhite: A Metta Prayer" was commissioned in 2023 for the Great Hall of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
