Prolific filmmaker Hong Sangsoo has made more than 30 films in 25 years, creating semi-autobiographical, character-driven stories about individuals in creative professions. His go-to actress, Kim Minhee, won a top prize at the Locarno Film Festival for her role as Jeonim in By the Stream.
An artist teaching at a Seoul university, Jeonim invites her uncle—a former actor with a controversial past—to direct a student play. He becomes involved with an academic administrator who is improbably a super-fan, causing drama for everyone around them.
