4. Virtual Cinema | 2020 Korean Film Days

   Korean Film Days | December 4–13, 2020The second annual MFAH Korean Film Days festival takes place online. The Wandering Chef takes a journey with famous chef Jiho Im as he travels the Korean peninsula in search of unusual ingredients that he transforms into appetizing dishes. 5. Hunt (Heon-teu)

   Community partner: Korean American Society of Houston (KASH) A 1980s espionage action thriller stars Squid Game’s Lee Jung Jae (also making his directorial debut) as head of the foreign unit of the South Korean Agency for National Security Planning. ., must uncover a North Korean spy deeply embedded within their agency. When a plot to assassinate the president is uncovered, the two units are each assigned to investigate each other.  

6. Lecture | Korean Art: From L.A. to Houston—One Story at a Time

   Lecture | Korean Art: From L.A. to Houston—One Story at a Time Speakers: Virginia Moon, LACMA; and Bradley Bailey, MFAH This conversation explores the latest installation of Korean art at the MFAH. The lecture focuses on the loans from the Korean art collection at LACMA (Los Angeles County Museum of Art), along with new acquisitions in the MFAH collection. As the Korean forces fall into crisis, the admiral resorts to his secret weapon: the dragon-head ships known as geobukseon to change the tide of this epic battle at sea.

8. Performance | Arts of Korea Gallery Celebration

   Enjoy live music and dance performances, including Han Narea’s traditional Korean dance. The Arts of Korea Gallery is the first gallery in the American South dedicated to Korean art. MFAH programs associated with the galleries of Korean art receive generous funding from the National Museum of Korea.

9. EXPIRED-Spotlight on World Cinema: Korea

   The Korean film industry is thriving, with international accolades steadily accumulated by its directors and actors in both art house and commercial genres. A further testament to this is the global itinerary of festivals devoted exclusively to Korean movies. Not quite a festival, this brief series presents four acclaimed recent releases. With innovative storytelling, Korean films not only have been commercially viable in the domestic and regional markets, but also have appealed to cinephiles everywhere on the international festival circuit.

10. “Treasures from Korea: Arts and Culture of the Joseon Dynasty, 1392–1910” concludes U.S. tour at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, in October

    Jul 16, 2014 - The MFAH has a particular interest in Korean art and related scholarship, and houses the only museum gallery in the Southwest dedicated solely to Korean art, featuring fine objects lent from the National Museum of Korea. The exhibition also sheds light on the external influences that profoundly affected Korean culture. It is the first full-scale survey presented in the United States of Korean art from the Joseon dynasty, which continues to profoundly shape Korean culture today, and it will enable us to share the art of this important period,
