But the group that constructed our summer installation, Mike + Doug Starn: Big Bambú, was up to the task—with some help from a few Houston-area rock climbers. I was so excited when the Starn brothers’ staff reached out to our rock-climbing club. I’ve been coming to the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, since I was a kid.

Kirk Douglas was the first film star I ever met, and the only movie set I ever got to visit is still Lonely Are the Brave.” See Lonely Are the Brave when it screens on 35mm on Friday, December 16! We rode our bikes there and saw Kirk Douglas getting in a jeep to ride up to the top of a ridge, where he then got onto a horse for one of the escape scenes. Gena Rowlands was nearby, causing in me a lifelong love for her.
