Collaborative printmaking enterprises typically comprise a small team of printers and publishers, engaging with an artist to produce an edition. See how a work of art comes to life. In Proof of Concept, drawings, paintings, and proofs reveal the progress of an artwork prior to the final prints made in etching, drypoint, screenprint, and woodcut.

    Kevin O. Mooney: 366247•2012 | October 20–December 9, 2018 This exhibition is organized by the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. Mooney (born 1957) also uses his camera to record the more personal and profound passages of life: a graduation in May; a wedding in July; his father’s illness, death, and funeral in the fall.   4. Late Fridays

    To welcome visitors on an additional late evening every week, the Museum is extending regular hours until 9 p.m. on Fridays in addition to Thursdays. Happy Hour moves to Fridays in a new location: the Arrival Hall on the lower level of the Kinder Building. Take in a film and enjoy “art bites” that give you a taste of an individual work of art. Wrap up your workweek, close your laptop, and head to the MFAH for a stress-free evening at the Museum. 

  5. Fall Art Classes for Kids

    Aug 28, 2020 - Check Out the Details The fall semester begins Wednesday, September 9, with virtual classes during session 1. On-site classes are planned for session 2, complete with social distancing and added safety protocols. The colorful worlds of painting and drawing await in the “Color Me Happy” class, for ages 4 to 6. “Fun with Fashion,” for ages 8 to 10, explores the world of fashion design. Pick Your Favorites From ceramics and cartooning to architecture and beyond, the Junior School offers a diverse range of fun courses for ages 3 to 18.

    Volunteer docents are asked to make a three-year commitment after the end of training.     Through his generosity, Willour has ensured that the Museum’s audiences will continue to discover talented artists and exciting work for years to come. 40 Years of Discovery: Gifts of Clint Willour | June 9–October 14, 2018 Collecting work by a range of artists, Willour is unconcerned about trends and instead relies on his own judgment and eye, living the adage “collect what you like.” The works of art collected by Clint Willour and given to the MFAH over the course of 40 years comprise a key component of the Museum’s collections. His patronage and expertise also extend to the entire Texas art community.
