    Apr 5, 2018 - Think back to your last visit to an art museum. How did you tackle the space? Was your goal to hit every single gallery, or did you focus your visit by choosing to see just one or two exhibitions? Most people view a work of art for only 6 to 10 seconds—which is not surprising given our culture of distraction and constant visual stimuli. Slow Art Day is an opportunity to combat that fast rhythm we’ve come to associate with TV and swiping on our smartphones, allowing ourselves the time to make new discoveries.

    Self-Guided Visits for the Summer During the summer, student groups are welcome to visit the Museum for a self-guided visit of our the art collections and nonticketed spaces. Hearst Foundation “Make the Most of Your Self-Guided Visit” sessions are offered on Thursdays, when the Museum is open late, and also in 30-minute increments on Zoom. How to Prepare for Your Visit Educators are highly encouraged to arrange a Hearst Foundation “Make the Most of Your Self-Guided Visit.”

    Apr 9, 2020 - I get up early and snatch two hours in my studio painting before getting to my desk by 8:30 a.m. I see myself as the spokesman and lead cheerleader for both our instructors and all of the Glassell students. With everyone at home, what are some of the new online courses available to students? This July marks my 10th year as dean, but I started teaching at Glassell almost 30 years ago. I was initially hired to teach the “Investigations in Charcoal” workshop, my proverbial “foot in the door.”
