    MFAH Films joins Rice Cinema and Asia Society Texas Center in celebrating the action-packed wuxia genre in Taiwanese cinema. These dazzling movies demand to be seen on the big screen! ; Consulate General of Brazil in Houston; Franci Neely; Carrin Patman and Jim Derrick; Ms. Generous support provided by the Ministry of Culture, Republic of China (Taiwan); and the Taiwan Academy of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Houston.

  5. Wuxia Wonders: Martial Arts on Screen

    Complementing the exhibition Emperors’ Treasures: Chinese Art from the National Palace Museum, Taipei, this film series brings to the big screen sparkling digital restorations of two classics of the wuxia (martial arts) genre Visit the Museum's Hirsch Library and peruse their selection of books on the genre, including Stephen Teo's Chinese Martial Arts Cinema: The Wuxia Tradition. by legendary filmmaker King Hu, as well as Ang Lee’s extraordinary Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.

    Celebrate winter break at the Museum with these family-friendly film offerings. Free with Museum admission.   8. Wheels on Reels

    The exhibition Sculpted in Steel: Art Deco Automobiles and Motorcycles, 1929–1940 inspires this series of classic movies that celebrate memorable cars and their drivers. Also featured: the Houston premiere of the new film Steve McQueen: The Man & “Le Mans," screening at the Museum March 18–20.

  9. Virginia and Ira Jackson Lecture

    Virginia and Ira Jackson created an endowment in 1998 to fund an annual lecture at the Museum on the collecting and connoisseurship of prints and drawings. Free and open to the public, the Virginia and Ira Jackson Lecture is the only program of its type in the United States. These lectures are endowed by Virginia and Ira Jackson.
