  2. Merchant Ivory in India

    New digital restorations bring the opportunity to experience a selection of early films by the renowned team of James Ivory, Ismail Merchant, and Ruth Prawer Jhabvala. Legendary actress Madhur Jaffrey (born 1933) and actor Shashi Kapoor (1938–2017) offer especially memorable performances. This film series is inspired by the Museum’s groundbreaking exhibition Peacock in the Desert: The Royal Arts of Jodhpur, India.

  3. Martin Scorsese Presents: Masterpieces of Polish Cinema

    Through his nonprofit, the Film Foundation, in partnership with distributor Milestone Films, a selection of these films, ripe for rediscovery by a global audience, was chosen for new restorations.   4. Marcel Pagnol’s Marseille Trilogy

    His defining works appear in a brand-new 4K restoration: the epic “Marseille Trilogy,” a heartwarming saga of love, labor, and good food in 1930s France. In the Los Angeles Times, Kenneth Turan asks, “how did these talky, admittedly theatrical films that date from the early days of the sound era end up the toast of a new century? The series follows young barkeep Marius (Pierre Fresnay), who is in love with cockle monger Fanny (Orane Demazis) but cannot quell his wanderlust.

  7. Julia Reichert: 50 Years in Film

    A four-time Oscar nominee, Reichert has dedicated her career to capturing stories exploring class, gender, and race in America. This film series is organized by the Wexner Center for the Arts with the Museum of Modern Art, New York, and curated by David Filipi, the Wexner Center’s director of film/video. The series continues to her Academy Award–winning 2019 documentary American Factory, codirected with Steve Bognar.
