Turkish Film Festival
Among this year’s highlights are Turkish Ice Cream (Türk işi dondurma), a historical drama set in 1915 Australia; The Pigeon (Güvercin), a coming-of-age film set in Adana; and Sibel, set in the Black Sea region, about a young Film Festival Pricing $10 MFAH members, students with ID, and seniors (65+) receive a $2 discount. Truffaut: On Childhood
A passionate moviegoer from the age of 8, the legendary French critic and filmmaker cut school as a child to sneak into Parisian cinemas. Concluding his trilogy on childhood is Small Change, comprised of overlapping stories of rambunctious children and adolescents (a cast of 60!) in a provincial boarding school. As a critic for the influential publication Cahiers du Cinema, Truffaut authored hundreds of articles, including a manifest that established the auteur theory that he and his French New Wave colleagues embodied.
