2. “2023 Core Exhibition” Events

The 2023 Core Exhibition is accompanied by a variety of events and performances. 2023 Core Exhibition March 9–April 14, 2023 Every year, the Core Program at the Glassell School of Art awards residencies to artists and critical writers, culminating in the spring with an exhibition and yearbook. 

3. Ruth K. Shartle Lecture Series

   The Ruth K. Shartle Lecture Series was established in 1975 in memory of Ruth K. Shartle, a longtime MFAH benefactor. The series commemorates Ruth K. —William C. Agee, MFAH director, 1974 to 1982 The Ruth K. Shartle Lecture Series is made possible by a generous grant from The Brown Foundation, Inc.

4. Through the Lens of Black Women: Beauty and Expectations

   -- Begin Grid Row --> The film series “Through the Lens of Black Women: Beauty and Expectations” runs February 2–4, 2024. She received a bachelor of arts degree in media production and English literature from the University of Houston in 2022. a weekend of classic and contemporary films that consider the experiences of Black women.

5. Korean Film Nights

   -- Begin Grid Row --> November 2, 3 & 4 | December 3, 2023 Korean Film Nights celebrates the robust Korean film industry with recent hits from the international festival circuit, genre favorites, and more.  Festival Admission $10 | MFAH members, seniors (65+), and students receive a $2 discount. Generous support has been provided by the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Houston.

6. Three Colors (Trois couleurs)

   The Three Colors trilogy—the final opus of groundbreaking filmmaker Krzysztof Kieślowski (1941–1996)—comes to the MFAH in a digitally restored edition. Opening with Blue, the series continues with White and closes with Red. 

7. Art Crowd Presents

   Art Crowd is a vibrant group of creatives and art lovers in their 20s and 30s interested in expanding their experiences at the MFAH.

8. The Mathematician Moviegoer

   July 9–24, 2022 James M. Vaughn Jr. (1939–2022), a longtime supporter of MFAH Films, had a lifelong interest in mathematics.
