    Oct 29, 2018 - At the top, the weavers were in the middle of weaving trees, flowers, and animals when they realized that the carpet had reached the appropriate length. At that point, the artisans immediately started weaving the top border, even though the motif may have not been completed—it almost looks like the design continues underneath the border! Borders We’re used to seeing carpets when they are lying horizontally on the ground, but they actually have a top and bottom because of the way the looms are set up when carpets are woven.

    Examination Using X-raysX-ray radiography and X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy (XRF) are two examples of examination techniques that require specialized instrumentation to interpret data. X-ray radiography, also used in the medical field, can reveal details of how an object was made, changes in composition, presence of old damages, and some information on material present.

    Oct 24, 2018 - In 2013, Fast Company magazine named Lake|Flato one of the World’s Top 10 Most Innovative Companies in Architecture. Facilities requiring darkness, such as for imaging and x-ray studios, are on the inward side. Support spaces, including for framing and storage, are sited between the studios. Sarofim Campus, on top of an existing MFAH parking garage. The center is designed to consolidate conservation operations that for years had been dispersed miles apart.
