  2. Houston Cinema Arts Festival

    -- Begin Grid Row --> November 9–19, 2023 The 15th annual Houston Cinema Arts Festival (HCAF) takes place at venues throughout the city, including both theaters at the MFAH: Brown Auditorium Theater and Lynn Wyatt Theater. HCAF 2023 showcases a wide variety of curated feature films with a focus on the diverse cultural community of Houston.

  3. “2023 Core Exhibition” Events

    2023 Core Exhibition March 9–April 14, 2023 Every year, the Core Program at the Glassell School of Art awards residencies to artists and critical writers, culminating in the spring with an exhibition and yearbook.  Jamal H. Daniel; Mr. Ronald A. Logan; McClain Gallery; and The Arch and Stella Rowan Foundation, Inc. The 2023 Core Exhibition is accompanied by a variety of events and performances.

  4. The Mathematician Moviegoer

    July 9–24, 2022 James M. Vaughn Jr. (1939–2022), a longtime supporter of MFAH Films, had a lifelong interest in mathematics.

  5. Afro-Atlantic Histories: Spotlight on Brazil

    This series of Brazilian films opens on November 19 and continues with screenings through January 9. The MFAH presents a film series inspired by the exhibition Afro-Atlantic Histories, on view October 24, 2021–January 17, 2022.

  6. Spring Discovery Days at Bayou Bend

    (for ages 9–13) Photo Challenge: Capture the BloomsTry your hand (and eye) at photography challenges prompted by the spring blooms in the gardens. (for ages 9–18) Origami Art StationPick up a single-use piece of paper from the outdoor art station and create a work of nature-inspired origami art to take home as a memento of your visit.  A. L.   7. Detective Days at Bayou Bend

    Topics are divided into two age groups: 6 to 9 years old, and 10 to 12 years old. These programs are available during any self-guided hours, and no reservations or appointments are necessary. HoursWednesday–Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.Sunday, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. AdmissionThe option of completing a Detective Days activity is included with the purchase of a House and Garden Admission ticket.  Children ages 6 to 12 can unleash their inner sleuths in the gardens or the historic house.
