Ernesto Neto: SunForceOceanLife, the seventh installment of the Museum’s summer immersive art series, will be on view from Sunday, May 30, through Sunday, September 26, 2021 in Cullinan Hall of the Caroline Wiess Law Building.

  5. Close-Up on “Black Art through the Lens”

    Jul 21, 2020 - Your writing and scholarship have explored the work of Black photographers for 30 years. Plan ahead for your visit. This virtual lecture series receives generous funding from Humanities Texas, the state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities. These photographers know that there is much more work to be done, and I hope our discussion will be another intervention as we learn more about how they make and create images.

  6. MFAH Mission and Communities

    Plaza; PNC Roof Garden; and Cullen Sculpture Garden are always free to visit. Children 12 and younger are always admitted to the MFAH and Rienzi for free, and children 9 and younger may visit Bayou Bend for free. Our goal is to promote knowledge, understanding, and with that, tolerance. By fulfilling this mission and striving toward this objective, we commit to remaining engaged with our times.  The program serves more than 30 districts in Harris and surrounding counties. Docent-guided tours create a welcoming learning environment for students of all ages.

    In the event that you must cancel your visit, please email schooltours@mfah.org or call 713.639.7835 as soon as possible. What happens if our group is late? If your group arrives more than 30 minutes late, your tour will be canceled. Where do we enter and check in?Buses may drop you off behind the Glassell School of Art, 5101 Montrose. Will there be time to visit the MFA Shop?Students are welcome to visit the MFA Shop after their guided tour or at any point during their self-guided visit.

  9. Annual Fund Drives

    More than 30 percent of our visitors enter the Museum for free. We provide art education to more than 100,000 visitors and students each year, whether on-site or through our community programs and online learning. Our audience is 90 percent local, and our community depends on us. Discover the art of giving, meet some of the individuals who make our institution unique, and ignite your imagination with our short films.
