RL: Yes, I also used to work at a general aviation terminal in college. I got to talk to Turrell about it. SS: That would be noncommercial aviation? RL: Yes, for people like Turrell and my dad.

  5. Journey through the Egyptian Afterlife with Matthew Barney’s “River of Fundament”

Sep 1, 2016 - I visited Barney’s studio when he first arrived in New York City, while I was running the legendary alternative space White Columns. 10. If “The Yellow Scale” were a drink ...

May 11, 2020 - So I went with gin and its complexities with botanicals. Then I thought ginger, lemon, lime, mango ... And so “Fugue in Yellow” was born. Here’s how you make it. First I thought “tropical,” and then: “What would make this artist peel himself away from his book to enjoy his cigarette with a drink?” He’s in a heightened state of yellow—bright, sunny, happy—but Kupka’s face almost says, “I am annoyed you bothered me.” Well, let’s fix that with a drink.
