    Feb 9, 2011 - Each week-long Summer Art Camp pairs a book with a work of art, and features discussions and art-making activities. Sunday, June 5, 2011: MFAH Family Day At this program, families can discover art together through an assortment of fun activities: a story-telling experience, a performance or film, and art-making activities inspired by the exhibition , presents an array of 52 hats that conjures a parade of identities; and Orrery (1997), carved from bone, which recreates on a minute scale an antique model of our solar system.

  2. Carlos Cruz-Diez: Color in Space and Time

    Oct 7, 2010 - Linnet F. Deily; The Boeing Company; and Leslie and Brad Bucher. The catalogue for this exhibition receives generous funding from Mercantil Commercebank and Furthermore: a program of the J. M. Kaplan Fund.  In his view, color is not a pigment on a solid surface but a “situation” that results from the projection of light on objects and the way this light is processed by the human eye. Carlos Cruz-Diez: Color in Space and Time will be on view at the MFAH’s Caroline Wiess Law Building from February 6 to July 4, 2011. 

  3. Helmut Newton: White Women • Sleepless Nights • Big Nudes

    Oct 5, 2010 - With top photographers Horst P. Newton (1920-2004) survived Nazi Germany as a self-supporting, nomadic teenager to emerge a world-renowned photographer. The prints that will be displayed in Helmut Newton: White Women • Sleepless Nights • Big Nudes were made specifically for the exhibition and are large-scale—some reaching nearly 8 x 8 feet.

    Art BitesA little art can go a long way! Visit the galleries for a snippet of art appreciation on our late nights. Art Bites tours are 30 minutes long and included in general admission. Meet your docent in the lobby of the building in which the art bite takes place on Thursday evenings at 6 p.m. and Friday evenings at 6:30 p.m. Artwork of the MonthEngage in slow looking and study of an MFAH favorite! Fridays this fall at 1:30 pm. Meet your docent in the gallery listed and discuss what moves you about art. This discussion is free with museum admission.
