The Artist’s Daughter, Oil on Canvas

Houston Jewish Film Festival

The Artist’s Daughter, Oil on Canvas reveals how a visit to her estranged father’s Tel Aviv exhibition of self-portraits renews filmmaker Margarita Linton’s relationship with him, but not the way she expected. As she unearths a lifetime of her feelings of neglect through conversations with members of her family, Linton begins to understand how much her father’s absence has eroded her sense of self, yet she remains determined to make meaning out of the void.

This acclaimed film premiered at Hot Docs and has won several awards worldwide, including the Jury Prize at the International Festival of Films on Art (Le FIFA) in Montreal, Best Film on Art at the Asolo Art Film Festival, Best Debut Film at Docaviv IFF, and Best Documentary Film at the Israeli Academy Awards.

A Zoom Q&A with filmmaker Margarita Linton follows the screening.
