In August, join a docent on a tour showcasing Japan’s extraordinary Meiji era (1868–1912). The monumental exhibition Meiji Modern: Fifty Years of New Japan looks at the country’s emergence from near-total isolation to a modern, global period. See nearly 200 remarkable works of Meiji art, including recently discovered masterpieces that have never been shown publicly.
