Opening Day Lecture | “William Kentridge: In Praise of Shadows”

William Kentridge: In Praise of Shadows surveys 35 years in the career of celebrated South African artist William Kentridge. On opening day, enjoy an overview with Ed Schad, curator at The Broad in Los Angeles, where the acclaimed exhibition premiered in 2022. Alison de Lima Greene, curator at the MFAH, introduces the lecture.

This program is included with admission. The lecture takes place in Brown Auditorium Theater on the lower level of the Law Building, and the exhibition is in the Beck Building. On Sundays, the Museum is open from 12:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.

About the Speaker
Ed Schad is curator and publications manager at The Broad in Los Angeles. He has curated exhibitions including Takashi Murakami: Stepping on the Tail of a Rainbow; Shirin Neshat: I Will Greet the Sun Again; and Carlos Cruz-Diez’s Couleur Additive. He served as editor in chief of 50 Artists: Highlights of The Broad Collection and managing editor of Cindy Sherman: Imitation of Life, among other publications. His writing has appeared in outlets such as Art Review, Brooklyn Rail, Frieze, and Los Angeles Review of Books.
