Made in England: The Films of Powell and Pressburger

In this new documentary, director Martin Scorsese celebrates his lifelong love affair with the movies of filmmaking team Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger, including The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp, Black Narcissus, The Red Shoes, and The Tales of Hoffmann. Scorsese first encountered the duo’s films on TV when he was a child. Drawing on a rich array of archive material, Scorsese explores the collaboration between Powell and Pressburger, who thrived during World War II, and describes how deeply their films have influenced his own work.
