History Book Club "The Lunar Men"

History Book Club

The History Book Club presents free, bimonthly discussions about literature and art, and you’re invited. These talks focus on books about life in Europe and America during the 18th and 19th centuries, inspired by the collections of the two MFAH house museums: Bayou Bend and Rienzi.

Closing out the 2022–2023 schedule is The Lunar Men: Five Friends Whose Curiosity Changed the World by British biographer Jenny Uglow. The book tells the story of a remarkable group of men who blended science, art, and commerce to kick-start the Industrial Revolution.

This month’s discussions also feature a very special announcement! Tune in to find out the lineup of book selections for the 2023–2024 season.
