Florescence, one of the nation's largest competitive flower shows, is presented by the Garden Club of Houston, River Oaks Garden Club, and the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. Now in its 12th edition, Florescence showcases floral and horticulture arrangements created and cultivated by entrants for the biennial public presentation. The 2017 theme is “Waves,” reflected in all of the arrangements on view. A special conservation exhibition titled Water, Water, Everywhere is intended to increase awareness of how choosing native plants can improve water quality and mitigate storm water flows, among other things.

Flower show divisions include Floral Design, Horticulture, Horticulture Design, Photography, Botanical Arts, Needle Arts, Conservation, and Art by Invitation. Designers are challenged to pull inspiration from dresses and paintings in the Museum’s collections to create their floral pieces.

The Florescence general exhibition is open to the public on April 25 and 26 in galleries throughout the Beck Building. Access to "Florescence" is included with general Museum admission. For more information, visit flohouston.org or contact florescence@mfah.org or 713.639.7572.
