Gary Tinterow Talks with Artist Kehinde Wiley

The MFAH is honored to welcome artist Kehinde Wiley to Houston as the Museum opens his landmark exhibition Kehinde Wiley: An Archaeology of Silence.

This special evening is part of the ongoing “Conversations with the Director” series, in which Gary Tinterow, Director, the Margaret Alkek Williams Chair of the MFAH, engages an eclectic roster of guests in conversations about the arts.

Tonight’s talk offers an inside look at Kehinde Wiley: An Archaeology of Silence, on view at the MFAH from November 19, 2023, to May 27, 2024. Wiley has said that the “archaeology” he is unearthing is this: “The specter of police violence and state control over the bodies of young Black and Brown people all over the world.”
