Art Encounters

October 12, 2023

Looking for a unique art experience? Drop-in Art Encounters, led by artists and inspired by art at the MFAH, focus on creating community. The way you participate is up to you! Take an active role, or simply observe. Supplies are provided.

This Art Encounters session offers art and music workshops inspired by Hélio Oiticica’s Vermelho cortando o branco (Red Going through White). Join the teaching artists to make parangolés—dance capes that Oiticica created—and make your own percussion instruments with recycled materials. Following the workshops, enjoy live music by UMJ Trio.
