Film Buffs
The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, invites you to join Film Buffs, a membership group for movie lovers. Established in 1996, members of Film Buffs have met industry professionals such as director Charles Burnett, actors Stockard Channing and Peter Fonda, and Houstonians Wes Anderson, Jonathan Caouette, and Richard Linklater.
As a Film Buffs member, you receive:
- At least 10 admissions to the museum’s year-round film screenings in Brown Auditorium Theater (excluding some screenings)
- Passes to sneak previews of new commercial film releases
- Invitations to social events and programs with visiting filmmakers and members of the Houston film community
- MFAH Films, a bimonthly film calendar
- FilmNews, a weekly e-mail update
The museum is the oldest repertory cinema in Houston and has sponsored the exhibition of film since 1939. Brown Auditorium Theater, designed by renowned museum architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, offers a superb moviegoing experience. It was named Houston’s “Best Place to See Vintage Flicks” by the Houston Press two years in a row.
Through the support of Film Buffs’ annual membership dues, the museum is able to maintain the high quality of film programming it has offered for generations. Please complete the attached application form and join this exclusive group today!
Film Buffs Levels as of July 1, 2010
- Individual $85 (MFAH members $75) – Receives 10 free admissions, after which admission to most films is $5; receives invitations to sneak previews and word-of-mouth screenings and receptions with special guests.
- Dual $150 (MFAH members $135) – Receive 20 (10 per person) free admissions, plus additional benefits listed above.
- Ultimate Film Supporter $1,000 – Receives free admission for up to four people for most films throughout the year, plus additional benefits listed above.
How to Get Your Film Tickets
Members of Film Buffs must obtain tickets for entry into each screening. Present your membership card at the film box office or any of the museum ticket stations to receive your allotted complimentary film tickets. MFAH members are eligible for a discount on the annual dues, so please indicate your membership number (located on your museum membership card) in the space provided.
