Native American Art
The MFAH´s collection of Native American art numbers more than 700 pieces.

|
From the Deserts and Forests
The objects come from two geographical areas: the Eastern Woodlands (primarily east of the Mississippi River) and the American Southwest.
|
Approximately 200 archaeological items from the Eastern Woodlands were given to the MFAH in 1963 by Arthur T. McDannald. The other 500 Native American works, most of which were donated to the museum in 1944 by Ima Hogg, are from the Southwest region.
