“Fashion Fusion” Runway Show
December 14, 2023
The MFAH and Houston Community College team up for a design competition and professional fashion show inspired by art on view at the Museum. “Fashion Fusion” challenges students and alumni from the award-winning fashion design program at HCC to create original designs.
In this year’s edition, Islamic art meets contemporary couture. The aspiring designers showcase garments addressing the theme “Exquisite Elegance: Art of the Islamic Worlds,” based on works in the New Galleries for Art of the Islamic Worlds. The designs fall into four categories: motifs and mosaics; trinkets and charms; sky and sand; and metallics and mirage. Judges determine the winners.
